BOTANICAL PRINTING
in BRILLIANT COLORS
This brand new online course is intended to guide the artist in creating bright and vibrant botanical paintings on natural fibers. Using plant & insect-based dyes, fresh leaves, fresh and dried flowers, plant extracts and food waste, one can achieve beautiful results with a few mordant recipes and techniques. This course covers two mordanting processes and my favorite post-dye indigo process for gorgeous greens!

Are you unsure about how to mordant, never heard of a carrier blanket or looking to bring more color into your process? This online workshop is focused on how to create colorful botanical contact-prints on protein (silk and wool) and cellulose fibers (cotton, hemp, linen and bamboo) using leaves and flowers and how incorporating a carrier blanket soaked in natural dye pigments and extracts can enhance your prints with striking background colors and depth.

Join us for a vibrant retreat in the famous artist destination, San Miguel de Allende, Mexico, immersed in the opulence of natural dyes. This workshop retreat will be a celebration of the colors one can achieve from plants and natural dyes. We’ll be eco-printing (a process of imprinting natural fibers with leaves and flowers), we’ll be working with vibrant indigenous dyes from Mexico and beyond, and each student will leave with wearable creations they’ve dyed themselves.
