an intricate process…
The art of botanical contact-printing…
The process is a delicate alchemy: pure white cloth is first immersed in minerals, preparing it to absorb the vibrant hues of plants. Fresh leaves and flowers are then arranged on the fabric, which is bundled and steamed. During this transformation, the essence, imprint, and pigmentation of the flora are transferred into the cloth, resulting in one-of-a-kind botanical contact prints. Each piece is a reflection of nature itself— a perfect blend of harmony and discord.
Behind the label…
I’m Alison—an artist, designer, and perpetual seeker, forever chasing beauty in its wild, untamed forms. My college years began in the sun-washed ateliers of San Miguel de Allende, Mexico, where I studied fine arts and silversmithing, which led to a trip deep into Oaxaca, where ancient vats of indigo and cochineal first taught me the alchemy of natural dyeing. Florence, Italy, sharpened my eye and my hunger for design and form as I immersed myself in fashion design, before New York swept me into the electric chaos of Project Runway.
It was when I turned back to the plants that I found my true calling, creating pieces meant not just to be worn or used, but to be experienced—silks steeped in the alchemy of petals and leaves, and organic skincare infused with their healing essences. Together, they become rituals of beauty and mystery, transforming the simple acts of dressing and tending to the body into moments of reverence and renewal.
Through workshops, I offer others a deep dive into the art of natural dyeing, helping participants create their own botanical prints and build a deeper connection with nature.
