THE ART OF BOTANICAL PRINTING

The process is its own kind of alchemy—simple, precise, and led by the materials themselves. Each piece of  pure white cloth is first prepared in a mineral bath, allowing the fibers to better receive color. Fresh leaves and flowers are then arranged across the surface before the fabric is tightly bundled and steamed. Under heat, the natural pigments and shapes of the botanicals transfer directly into the fibers, creating clear, spirited & richly colored imprints. Each piece reflects the true character of the plants that touched it—subtle, complex, and distinctly its own.

Behind the label

I’m Alison Kelly, an artist guided by the quiet intelligence of the natural world and an unshakable devotion to beauty in its most untamed forms. My path has taken me through sun-drenched ateliers in San Miguel de Allende, where I studied fine art, weaving, and silversmithing with my hands deep in tradition and intuition. During a trip to Oaxaca City, I was introduced to the ancient alchemy of natural dyeing — watching indigo turn the blue of midnight and cochineal bloom into impossible crimson, forever changing the way I understand color as something living, breathing, and sacred.

Fashion school in Florence sharpened my eye for silhouette and form, for the poetry in structure and movement, while New York City swept me into its intoxicating chaos during Project Runway season 3, where creativity and pressure danced side by side. Yet, no matter how far I traveled, I was always being called back to the earth — to the quiet wisdom of plants, petals, roots, and resin.

It is here that my truest work revealed itself. I create with living botanicals, honoring their ephemeral grace in every garment, every print, every oil, every blend. In my world, true beauty lives within you; my work with botanicals simply helps it bloom.

Through workshops, I share this botanical alchemy with others, teaching the art of natural dyeing and guiding participants to create their own prints while cultivating a deeper connection to the living world.
