This sewing project utilizes specifically a the vintage linen tablecloth. These treasured textiles often feature exquisite details rarely found in modern fabrics—hand-finished hems, delicate cutwork, scalloped edges, drawn threadwork, and intricate embroidery that speak to a slower era of making.
Before sewing, I botanically contact-printed my sample with fresh summer flowers (I can’t help it, I’m a botanical printer)— but vintage linens alone have a timeless, heirloom vibe on their own and really don’t need any further application. Either way, the result is an effortless wrap jacket that celebrates the fleeting beauty of the past while honoring the history of the vintage cloth.
